What is the TENKARA FISHING ?

Tenkara fishing is very similar to the fly fishing, in other word, they say Japanese fly fishing. It is a traditional fishing style in Japan which is developed by mountain river fisher man.

Long time ago, around 200 or 300 years ago, there are no customs to eat the animal food ,especially 4 foot animals, in Japan by religious reason.

So that, fish are very important animal protein material in Japan. They can easy to got a lot of fish where lived in salt water area but, they could not so easy to got a lot of fish in the mountain area especially deep mountain area. And they did not have fish transportation techniques from the sea area as well.

Mountain fishermen could catch with bait fishing but, they have found out that fish bite flies on one occasion and as soon as flash into his mind.

"Hey! buddy, we can catch trout by imitation fly!!"

"Oh ye, How nice idea!!"

The developed very simple system. Tenkara fishing pole, line and fly.
